Martha Waldvogel-Warren - Harp Martha holds a Bachelor of Martha Waldvogel-Warren
Music in Harp Performance from Ball State University with
Elizabeth Richter, and a master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute with
Alice Chalifoux. Further studies have taken her to the Salzedo Harp Colony
in Camden, Maine and the Tanglewood Institute in Lenox, Massachusetts,
where she studied with Lucile Lawrence.

Extensive performance experience in orchestras and chamber music
ensembles in the U.S. and Europe, as well as solo appearances
worldwide, round out her resumé. She has produced four CDs: a trio with
Swiss flutist Paul Haemig and actor Johannes Meier in a recitation of poems
by Herman Hesse, two duo CDs with New York flutist/piper Christopher
Layer featuring both classical and folk music, and one solo CD.

Having returned in 2007 from living in Switzerland, Martha brings
back a wealth of teaching experience. Her students from Musikschule
Kloten/Zurich combined with students from her private studio have given
her an opportunity to form and lead several harp ensembles.

Leonard Bernstein described Paul Woodiel as “a first-class performer - one
who combines spirituality with intellect.” A New York City musician, he
has been a featured recitalist at the 92nd Street. Y, the Miller Theater at
Columbia, the Caramoor International Festival, and the New York Festival
of Song at Carnegie Hall, and has appeared as a soloist at music festivals
from Bard College in New York to the red rocks of Moab, Utah.

Athree-time New England Fiddle Contest champion, he has taught at
Wesleyan University, Pinewoods Camp, and here in New Harmony.
In the traditional vein, he performs with the Scottish dance band, Local
Hero. He has toured with Steve Reich and piano wizard Dick Hyman,
Marin Alsop’s Concordia, Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks, the American
Composers Orchestra, and the Grammy Awards Orchestra. You have
heard him play violin on Woody Allen films, Dixie Chicks records, golf
on TV, and advertisements for controversial weight-loss medications. For
decades he has played in Broadway orchestra pits, and was the assistant
concertmaster for the recent Broadway production of “West Side Story” as
well as “Nice Work If You Can Get It.”
